"5.0 out of 5 stars Great book - very informative and easy to read. This is an amazing book. If you are a caregiver, you know how difficult it can be to help someone who has lost some of their mobility. So often, we try to help but struggle to do so and hurt ourselves in the process. Now we finally have someone advocating for us! Kevin, the author and a physical therapist, helps us step by step. The sections on how to safely help transfer a person - without hurting ourselves, is terrific - love the photographs. Kevin also takes us room by room, looking at safety issues and solutions. The information on how to choose a wheelchair, cane and walker is really good. But what I really like about this book is that it's so easy to understand. Thank you Kevin for helping us caregivers, who so often have big hearts but lack training. Now we can have both."

"5.0 out of 5 stars. Kevin Lockette puts together an excellent guide for caregiver's. I have over 15 years of Physical Therapy experience working in home health and this is the best book I have come across for caregivers. It covers all the issues that a caregiver will run into to assist their loved ones at home. A caregiver, all to frequently, ends up hurting themselves by using poor body mechanics. Caregivers go through training in hospitals prior to discharge but frequently a lot is forgotten due to the mass amount of information. This book will be a great resource for those caregiver's to fall back on and keep them and their loved one safe and healthy. The utilization of pictures makes the techniques and exercises easy to follow. Kevin has covered all the subjects in the caregiver's guide with great detail without being overwhelming. This book is easy to follow and I highly recommend it to my patient's caregivers and colleagues."

"5.0 out of 5 stars - orthopaedic surgeon perspective. A well written, valuable resource! The capability of a caregiver has important implications after an injury or surgery. For instance, after hip fracture surgery, the ability of a patient to return to his or her pre-injury level of function and independence is highly dependent on the support system available."
This comprehensive book is very useful for patients and their family members after surgery. It provides step by step instructions and photos on a wide variety of situations caregivers encounter, and helps caregivers safely optimize the recovery of their loved one.

"5.0 out of 5 stars - Kevin Lockette has authored a practical guide for the home caregiver who is responsible for assisting a family member or friend with the basic functional tasks of everyday life.
The level of detail is sufficient that the caregiver (and care-receiver) can read and problem-solve what methods might best apply to the layout of their bedroom, bathroom, car, etc. This is critical piece since the level of assistance that a person needs may change over time.
The exercise section recommends safe exercises for different levels of symptom severity.
Lockette includes many 'tricks' gleaned from over two decades of experience in working with people with neurological and orthopedic impairments, and the result is a practical help to enable people do what they most often want: to age in place."

"5.0 out of 5 stars - excellent resource for caregivers. As a home care nurse and caregiver advocate, I am always looking for teaching tools and quality reference materials for my patients and family caregivers. Kevin Lockette, a Physical Therapist with many years of experience working with patients and families, has put together an excellent resource. It is comprehensive, well written, has great pictures with real people for demonstration purposes and keeps it as simple and basic as possible. The topics include good body mechanics, safe transfer techniques, bed mobility, adaptive and assistive devices, equipment options, home safety, and exercises for the patient and caregiver. I highly recommend this easy to read book to keep you and your loved ones safe at home."
